Is There an Accurate Way to Figure Your dog‘s Age in Human Years?

Most people are aware that dogs age considerably faster than humans. If that’s true, it would mean that on his first birthday, he would be 7 in people years. This is why dogs live much shorter lives in human years. How exactly did we figure out how quickly they age though? It’s important to note that not all dogs age at the same rate, and all dogs also age at various rates over the course of their lifetime. So how exactly was the 7 year figure arrived at, and can it be used as an accurate measure of a dog‘s age?

Most dogs achieve maturity by the time they are 18 months old. If you do the math, you’ll find out that an 18-month old dog is approximately ten years old in human years. After this initial 18 months, though, your dog will age about four dog years per human year which definitely does not conform to the assumption of 7 years. If you want an easy way to determine your dog’s age, you can find online charts to help you. These charts are even broken down into small and large dogs, because small dogs tend to live longer than larger ones do.

Rather than use the actual age of the dog and compare it to human years, some websites offer charts that base the dog’s biological age on how much he weighs. This type of chart can conclude that a dog has a human age of 40 if he has an actual age of 5 and weighs between 50 and 90 pounds. Smaller dogs that weigh up to 20 pounds with an actual age of 11 will be considered to be 60 years old in human years. Your dog’s health condition and weight are very important when determining his biological age.

Different websites make use of their own formulas, so your results will vary from site to site. Although you may not understand why, there is a good reason why people are interested in how old their dog is in human years. Figuring a dog’s age in dog years should be adequate, especially if we know how old the particular breed generally lives to be. If your dog is happy and healthy, his age in people years shouldn’t affect your relationship in any way. As you can see, dogs don’t always age seven years faster than humans. Doc No. 34Sdlhgsdl -sds
